A Greeting Card with an Owl Design and a Laced Border

This double greeting card is decorated on the front with a piece of Color Bar card in which a laced border is punched in each side using the Fiskars Border Punch system. The owl is attached to the Color Bar card. The owl is cut out from patterned and plain paper using a template.

1.   Fiskars Border Punch System: Insert the pattern cartridge in the handle with a slight push. Remember that the “wings” of the tool at the bottom must be unfolded beforehand.

2.   Cut a piece of Color Bar card in the same size as the front of the double greeting card. Now punch a pattern in both sides of the Color Bar Card.

3.   Use double-sided self-adhesive tape and attach the piece of Color Bar card with the laced border onto the front of the double greeting card.

4.   Print the template, which is available as a separate PDF file for this idea. Cut out the template and draw the owl's body onto the Vivi Gade Design paper.

5.   Draw the wings, the beak and the claws onto a piece of Color Bar card and cut out.

6.   Change the pattern cartridge and punch a new border with a flower design in a piece of Color Bar card. Adjust the length so it fits the width of the front of the double greeting card. Cut free the flower border and attach to the front of the card.

7.   Attach all the owl parts with double-sided self-adhesive tape.

8.   Finally draw and cut out the eyes from white card. The pupil may either be cut out from black card or may be drawn on with a black marker pen.
