A vase with a plaster surface and mosaics

1   Use plaster on glass as it sticks well and offers the possibility of adding a new lease of life to various vases whether they are from a second hand shop or from your cupboard.

2   Mix Cera-Mix standard plaster casting compound and water so that the consistency resembles mayonnaise. You will need 1 cup of Cera-Mix standard plaster casting compound to 1/2 cup of water. Don't mix too large amounts at a time as the mixture sets quickly.

3   Apply the plaster with modelling tools.

4   Make different patterns and dots on the surface using modelling tools.

5   Apply a 1-3 mm thick layer of plaster onto the glass item.

6   Press the glass mosaic fragments and the sea shells in the plaster as you go along before the plaster sets. You may smooth out the plaster with a bit of water on your finger.

7   A tip: Make the plaster surface appear more clearly by applying the plaster more roughly.
