Make your very own rainbow

1   Cut 20 pieces of macramé cord each measuring 50 cm. Gather them with masking tape at one end (10 cm down). Twist the 20 pieces of macramé cord around a floral stem wire and secure with masking tape 10 cm from the other end. Cut 20 pieces of macramé cord each measuring 47 cm and gather them with masking tape at one end and continue as described above. Cut 20 pieces of macramé cord each measuring 44 cm and gather them with masking tape at one end and continue as described above. Cut 20 pieces of macramé cord each measuring 41 cm and gather them with masking tape at one end and continue as described above.

2   Wrap a macramé cord tightly around the gathered 50 cm pieces of macramé cord. Begin by placing one end of the macramé cord along the twisted bundle of macramé cords and wrap around the end to secure it.

3   Secure the macramé cord with a needle at the other end. Wrap a piece of yellow macramé cord tightly around the gathered bundle of the 44 cm long macramé cords and continue as described above. Wrap a piece of grey macramé cord tightly around the gathered bundle of the 41 cm long macramé cords and continue as described above.

4   Braid twisted knots around the bundle of 20 macramé cords each measuring 47 cm (see the video in idea No. 15962).

5   Unravel the cords with a needle to separate the strands. Comb the tassels with a comb and trim the tassel ends 8 cm (or your chosen length) further down. A tip: Moisten the ends with a water spray bottle whilst combing.

6   Sew the rainbow together with invisible stitches. First sew around one bow then the other. Hide the threads in the windings.

7   Sew a macramé cord around the top bow for hanging.
